(TACAS)The Triangle Area's largest Chinese New Year Festival will take place on January 24, 2009 in the Exposition Center at the NC State Fairgrounds. The festival will include an Art and Essay contest during the weeks leading up to the Chinese New Year.

You will find interesting facts and legends related to new year ceremonies and practices, the zodiac of animal signs, lucky Chinese foods, and a few words to say in Mandarin.

2)2009 Chinese New Year Gala will be held at Memorial Hall, UNC Chapel Hill on Sunday February 8, 2009 from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
Tickets will be sold on January 10 at three local Chinese schools and on-line.

2009 Chinese New Year Gala Organizer: Chinese-American Friendship Association (CAFA)
Co-organizers: Confucius Institute at NCSU, FACSS at UNC Chapel HillCAFA, Confucius Institute at NCSU and FACSS at UNC Chapel Hill have prepared for 2009 Chinese New Year Gala a diversified and exceptional performance.

It will be the biggest event for Chinese community in the triangle area. Over 20 local Chinese groups will bring you singing and dancing, folk instruments, comic skits, fashion show and entertainment for kids.

Every member of your family will find it enjoyable.The performance will be held at Memorial Hall at UNC Chapel Hill on February 8, when it also happens to be the Lantern Festival of Chinese New Year. Chinese community in the triangle area will take this great opportunity to reunion and celebrate.

During the event, CAFA will also provide visa and passport services to CAFA members and students at UNC Memorial Hall.
